Igniting the Inner Flame: Shine your light on the world

Updated: Apr 9

In a discussion session I had recently, I was guided to look the ruthless truth of the intergenerational trauma racisms has played in my life. One of the questions I had to explore was: Where was I saying it was fine when it wasn't? What I unearthed was my own conditioning to shrink myself in the work place in order to stay safe and not ruffle any feathers. This shows up specifically with woman of color who have had to manage microaggressions from others in the work place resulting in so much time wasted tip toeing and being hyper visual about not being "too much" or coming off as "angry" or "aggressive".

There were moments within my career I played it small as away of protections, see I had great ideas, but never really wanted to share them. Why, you ask? Because I didn't feel safe. I knew these ideas and innovative ways of thinking would be exploited. This would show up through receiving no recognition by way of upper management taking the idea as their own or giving credit with no added compensation but all the additional work. I've met people that could put huge dollar signs on what their ideas or innovations brought in for the company, but nothing financially substantial came their way for their brilliance, just straight siphoning.

As I transition out of the nine to five landscape, I've noticed the need to now take up space in order to be seen and heard when creating your own. Questions start to form around: What does that look like? How does that translate? Taking a holistic view, I now realize the "ruthless truth" is I self inflicted an intergenerational trauma resulting in the closing off of my solar and sacral chakra points to protect myself. See I knew my greatness but refused to give it away for pennies on the dollar.

So now it's time to create my own, BUT if your light has been dim for so long (like pilot light small), how do you ignite it to the furious flames that you know are inside of you crying out to be seen heard and felt by all who are ready to come near. Unapologetically.

"Pele, Goddess of creation and destruction knows the dept of her potential only too well. She knows when and where to use that power to create life and when to end a cycle that no longer serves anyone or anything. Take a moment to tune into the fiery power of Pele and let her show you where to wield your creative power and how to create something meaningful, passionate, and full of intent."
